Begin by giving your cabin a thorough cleaning. Open the windows and let the fresh air circulate through your space. Next, evaluate your furniture to see if you need to make changes. If you have a two or three room cabin, and don’t have a lot of room, sleeper sofas will give you more sleeping accommodations, and they come in all sizes these days. You can get sofas and oversize chairs in new materials called microfiber which is stain resistant and easy to clean.
Most cabins are made out of logs and are usually pretty light colored on the inside walls if they are left natural. You may want to add color in greens or reds or even blues as those are great colors for the woodsy lake cabin. If you live with a hunter you may have some kind of mounted animal head hanging in the cabin. It could be over the fireplace mantle which is a great place for it to be hanging.
A nice raw wood table or even a table made out of redwood or cedar is a beautiful accent. Consider using a rustic style like for a picnic table for the dining room. Of course, rough cedar will need to be sealed for protection against splinters. Most cabins have rough wood floors so you are going to need some rugs placed strategically to not only cut out some dust across the floors, but probably some noise.
